    He got a return a few months later and got stopped in his own backyard. He was only 27. I've read about the Pep debacle but never fully understand his reasons for retiring so early.

    All three would be great fights. My point here is that no one "outclassed" Tapia during his best run of years, even when he was a crackhead with mental issues.

    I think Johnny is being overlooked big time.
    Who really ever beat him in his prime?
    I thought he beat Paulie for sure the second time.
    Romero fight close??? When the fight ended everyone knew who won without a doubt .
    And how about his win vs Konadu? Or Julio?
    Tapia could box and he could also go to the body really well .Also had a cast iron chin .
    Rose beat the better boxers but i think Johnny is as skilled as Rose.
