Pac cotto is a better example then the marg fight, or even DLH.

 

Jerry Quarry-Mac Foster is a pretty good example of what Jerry Boy was all about in the ring. He was basically losing every round until he took that hard right hand from Mac and "woke up". The Shavers fight was another good one.

 

Frazier-Bonavena I is a great not-so-obvious example of what Smokin' Joe was all about. Came back after getting knocked down twice early and ground Ringo down the rest of the fight. Frazier was the epitome of focus and will in the 60's and early 70's.

 

Yep -- good call. Arguello/Escalera was another good call someone posted.

 

I guess you've never heard of a hispanic named Oscar De la Hoya and his fights vs Mosley in 2000 and 2003.

 

I'd say Cotto is a good runner-up because he boxed and fought, but Margarito made Pacquiao show more versatility in my opinion. Pacquiao moved and threw quicker and boxed smarter than I think he ever had. Not exactly a chess-match, but many moments in the fight really show his defensive style and technical prowess as well.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler V John 'the beast' Mugabi

at the time back in 1986 marvin was rumoured to be fading after his war with hearns and prior to that had struggled with Juan Roldan and a blown up Duran,

Mugabi was a wrecking machine and was dominant at 154 but had never been into the late trenches before of a title fight and had not gone beyond 10 rounds up till then .

Mugabi fought outside of himself that night landing massive shots again and again and seeming to walk through whatever hagler threw at him till Marvin dug deep and relentlessly did a demolition job on him - fighting toe to toe haglers hooks and uppercuts wore down the beast and put him away in the 11th .

This fight more than any other epitomises Haglers destruct and destroy motto - it was so brutal that it certainly finished Mugabi as an elite fighter and aged Hagler due to the punishment he had to take.

tenacity,relentless pressure, an iron chin and iron will - tremendous infighting ability and the instinct of a natural born killer no wonder many have him only 2nd to Robinson in the greatest 160 pounder of all time rankings.

 

I have to disagre.e I thought he looked a bit sloppy in the Marg fight. The Cotto fight showed everything about Pacquiao. He boxed, moved, fought on the inside, slugged, countered, and it was him at his sharpest.

Roy Jones Jr.-Glenn Kelly- hell the knockout is really what showed Jones for what he was in his prime. The reflexes, showboating, speed and power all wrapped into one.

Paul Williams-Antonio Margarito- Really gave an early glimpse into what Williams was, a high output, mentally tough fighter. He threw over 100 punches per round for most of the fight, and when he was backed into the corner in the 12th without much momentum, he put his feet down and rallied for the win.

Mayweather-Hatton- Mayweather did here what he does in most of his fights above 140, which was to feel out his opponent in the first 2-3 rounds, then make the adjustments and pull away and make it a blowout. Hatton brought some problems early, Mayweather adjusted and began to rip Hatton to shreds, and then put Hatton out of his misery late.

Ward-Kessler- Andre Ward's coming out party. Ward showed what he was going to do the entire Super Six tourney which was be the bully in the ring. He forced Kessler backwards, won the inside fights, and used everything in the ring to attack Kessler. He would repeat this with both Bika and Green.
