    Floyd mayweather jr

Sugar ray leonard * (fight against lalonde was fro 168-175 title some historians don't count it.)

Thomas hearns ** ( Tommy won a wbo title at 90 so I don't really count that)

Oscar De La hoya ** (some say hoya but I don't count the WBO)

so it looks like the only true 5 weight world champion in history is floyd mayweather jr.:hey

hearns, de la hoya, calzaghe.....they all won the WBO and the fighter makes the belt so tommy hearns and oscar will be legit in some peoples opinion....but i do see where youre coming from cos Floyd only deals with the WBC and WBA which is credible

    Four? More like fourteen.

He didn't specify "world titlists recognized by the handful of most reputable orgs".

it's remarkable when you really think about. I mean right now I don't really think we realize how great of an accomplishment this is. the fact that you had some great fighters of the modern era who could never accomplsih the same feat speaks volume.

if ray robinson had woin the 175 title then he would be considered a true 5 weight world champion.

I am not sure about henry armstrong I know he won the 135-147-160 titles simultaneously so I would count him as a tru 5 weight world champion just based on the weight classes of the modern era.

Yeah, Armstrong won titles at 126, 135, and 147. Was robbed against Ceferino Garcia in his bid for the 160 pound title.

Had they had all the divisions there are today, he could have been a 7 weight world champion.

Someone like Roy Jones Jr COULD have done it if it was physically possible

Technically he could be HW, CW, LHW, SM champ but I dont see him boiling his weight down to make middleweight in order to complete the 5 weight feat....

I dont count Sugars 175 title. Total bogus of a title win.

I didn't see the garcia fight but from box rec henry got a draw. still to go from 126-160 is why I consider him the GOAT or at least in a tie with ray robinson.

floyd could possibly win 6 but not 7 no way floyd could fight at 168.

Eh. Titles. Not lineal titles but if you want to get techincal.

Hatton ducked Floyd.. wouldn't fight him at 140.

When they did fight, Hatton weighed 154 what he normally weighs for a Jr WW fight. And Floyd weighed 148. Basically Floyd won the 140 Lineal Title during that fight.
