As the title says; what fighters of a particularly defined style are perfectly molded examples of what that style is meant to imply? I'm talking terms like boxer, counter-puncher, swarmer, etc. They don't have to be the best or most accomplished representatives of their styles; just the purest example of them.

    I'll start:

    Boxer-Puncher: Felix "Tito" Trinidad

Conventional guard, often boxed behind a jab to get his powerful offense going, used efficient footwork, had a very balanced and textbook stance, slipped and blocked punches with very "normal" looking movements, and threw punches and combinations with correct technique.

Swarmer/In-fighter: Julio Cesar Chavez (may revise this pick upon further separation between the two terms)

Often boxed on the front foot with a slightly raised guard, used head movement to get inside, used subtle rolls, slips, and parries on the inside to avoid shots while using his shoulders and forearms to smother punches and bully his opponent to the ropes, made the body a priority, threw tight punches, could box laterally but preferred to stalk and cut the ring off, had a big punch (a great left hook no less), and never stopped hunting over however many rounds it took.

don't know about Trinidad being a textbook boxer puncher. I'd say even Forrest is a better example.

The very definition of a boxer/puncher has Ricardo "Finito" Lopez picture nest to it.

Forrest was far from textbook. Trinidad had far better classic form.

Forrest had New York/Philadelphia type boxpunching. See the straight retreats, the low left hand, and the use of lateral gliding.

Textbook Northeastern, maybe, but far from textbook.

All good and interesting picks. Arguello is great for boxer-puncher as well, he came to mind, and I never thought to categorize "spoiler" in it's own class. Toney was my initial pick as well for counter-puncher.

lol @ Dirrell as a "negative runner". I suppose it does pass as a style these days.

Defence used to be slipping punches. Nowadays it's skipping well out of punching range.
