It's time for Beyonce Wilder to step up. He keeps struggling with fringe contenders / high classed journeymen, so he needs to fight one of the following heavyweights next. I think all these guys beat Wilder right now: Tyson Fury Wladimir Klitschko Alexander Povetkin Kubrat Pulev Anthony Joshua Luis Ortiz Joseph Parker David Haye Alexander Ustinov Hughie Fury Bryant Jennings There are also a lot of 50/50 fights, boxers with the same level as Szpilka who was winning the fight until the stoppage: Robert Helenius Dereck Chisora Mike Perez Amir Mansour Carlos Takam Anyway, would be surprised if Wilder takes any of the heavyweights I mentioned above. He will probably fight Wawrzyk or Charles Martin next
Povetkin is the one who fought Wawrzyk in a title fight. Aren't you one of the ones who predicted Wilder would fight him this time? That's a nice list. I seem to remember a lot of people saying Stiverne would beat him, same with Szpilka (you can still see those threads on this page). Or maybe those were 50-50 fights? I do give you props for listing the guys you think beat him, so at least you're on the record and we can see if you're wrong or right. That's a lot better than "first decent fighter he faces, he loses" or "as soon as he faces a real puncher, he gets KTFO." You've actually attached names instead of things you can later backtrack on to say "no, I didn't mean that guy." I hope to see some of the others -- especially the chin-checkers -- drop by and actually tell us which guys they think are elite enough to beat Wilder.
I pick him over today's Helenius, Perez and Chisora cause they're damaged goods now. Maybe Ustinov too cause he's slow like hell. Others would be very, very tough fights for Wilder to say the least :roll:
Nah, that's too many. He's not awful but probably around top 5ish. - Wlad - Haye - Povetkin - Fury Beat him.
Chin-checkers and Wilder haters ducking this thread like Fury ducking an IBF mandatory. Pony up and give us your lists.
Most likely: Fury (UD/MD) Joshua (KO) Haye (KO) Luis Ortiz (KO) Jennings (SD) Povetkin (UD) Perhaps: Wlad (depending on what shape he comes back. His 'Wach' version would do). Charles Martin (we don't know enough about him yet, Glazkov fight didn't show anything) Hughie Fury (has skills, but can't imagine him with a higher opponent) Parker (hasn't been tested yet) No other noticeable names, yet. Fights with Teper, Takam, Tarver and others may be compatitive, but Wilder will definitely win by KO.
The fun thing with Wilder is what he lacks in technic he makes up in power, Wilder looks pretty aweful most of the time but when he lands it's over! It's hard to count out somebody with that kind of power but guys with speed and power like Haye and Parker will beat him. Wilder have great chance to beat Fury because Fury is so big and goofy!
