According to the Strefa site he also lost to Ismail Syllakh 2001 and Dmitriy Bashkatov in 2002 as well.

I got these off there too.

2010-04-15 81kg Samir Magomedov RUS Artur Beterbiyev RUS 3:2

2010-04-17 81kg Artur Beterbiyev RUS Samir Magomedov RUS RSC 1

I'm not sure if the first one is correct though as he scored that first round stoppage over Magomedov in the final of the 2010 Umakhanov Memorial Tournament. Maybe they also fought each other two days before that as well.

But if it is, that means he avenged his losses against Syllakh, Magomedov (both via stoppage, although he also beat the former on points too) and he also exacted his revenge against Atoev (twice) and Makarenko too. But conversely, Usyk was able to exact his revenge over him for an earlier loss twice.

His loss against Makarenko (he might have lost to him more than once, IRRC, or maybe I'm confusing him with another fighter) was a very bad-tempered affair.

Incidentally, I wonder if there's any bad blood between Beterbiev and Kovalev? They used to be team mates and spar each other a lot and Kovalev seems quite pally, or at the least supportive of, with quite a few of his Russian, Ukrainian, or in Golovkin's case - Kazakh, contemporaries. I know he's friends with Korobov (who also holds a win over him), Golovkin, Mago, Gradovich and I think he might also be friends with Mekhonstev, Gvozdyk and Lomachenko as he was ringside for Mekhonstev's debut and Korobov's fight against Edwards, and Loma and Usyk in turn were ringside for his fight against Cornelius White.

I'm sure I remember Gvozdyk saying something about being friends with him too, or maybe he just said he liked him. They both share the same management so maybe that's as far as it goes. I also remember Kovalev saying that Andre Ward beat his friend, so I'm guessing he must be referring to Makarenko there.

Corruption in the amateurs is horrible. That is how Beterbiev got his KO win vs. Dorticos. :patsch

I'm interested in seeing him progress. He's like Lomachenko and willing to test himself.
