Gerald Mcclellan Prime joe calzaghe @ SMW Nigel Benn 37 year old Thomas Hearns James Toney rematch ( James was badly weight drained ) Bernard Hopkins rematch ( 1st fight hopkins was very green, rematch didn't happen until 20 years later) Steve Collins dariusz michalczewski henry maske but don't worry guys, he sure made up for it fighting the richard halls and david telescos of the world :rofl
He was offered the Jackson fight a number of times at mw. To be fair I'm told quite a few fighters looked the other way when a Jackson fight was put on the table
You can take the highlighted names off that list. Hearns was waay past prime it would of been a complete mismatch Hopkins insisted on 50+ which is why that fight never happened sooner Calzaghe wanted Jones to drop a weight class and fight in Wales. If he really wanted the fight he would of moved up instead of hoping that Jones would fight him in a weight drained state Maske??? Michalczewski??? Benn??? No one really knows what happened He should of fought Toney again, but I cant see how a case could be made for ducking him . Jones should of fought Collins at smw, but it would of been a mismatch, no way does Collins get past round 6
Graciano Rocchigiani, when the wbc stole his belt by armed robbery so they could gift it to Jones and avoid the fight
:deal Another fighter Calslappy easily destroyed:happy, Roy should have stepped up . . . only a loser would hide out and protect his record.atsch IF he thought he was so good he could easily moved up in weight and fought bigger guys. **** I think he could have beaten "the quiet man" at the end of his best years . . . F'n loser:tired
Some more possibilities; Frankie Liles wanted a match with him and they had those amateur fights. McClellan was calling for him even before he won the WBO title against Mugabi. At 168, you had Collins/Benn/Eubank/Calzaghe. Plus southpaw Nunn who had a similar style to Tarver. Actually Tarver chased Jones for a long time before getting a match. Graciano is a good call and a guy definately not easy to look good against. Maske, another. What this stuff all adds up to is what we the boxing fans got instead; matches against literally a guy with no chance---like a Pazienza. Anyone you know picking Vinnie in that one? They were many other tougher matches available. But it was always a bout against a 40 year old McCallum and guys like that and not ever the risky fights.
