By weak I mean those who are not immediate contenders that they shouldn't be fighting, so outside the top five or are in their late 30s or who are journeymen.

So that would be who ? Who has the most losses to fringe fighters?

Obviously not including exhibition fights or post 'retirement from title defences' fights.

Think that would be a really weird list.

Because losing a defence means losing the title, wich means having to regain the title first to get a next defence. How many boxers really became multiple champions and getting beaten more then twice by undeserving boxers? :blood
Or do you mean champion boxers who lost to many journeymen in or close to their primes, like Braddock for instance?

yeah sorry I think that's what I mean.

    lets go so -

    1. Wladimir Klitschko 3 losses to weak opponents

I cant actually think of anymore at the moment, but I'll be back when I do.

In that case there are many, many champions that have much, much more losses as Wlad...

From the ATG heavies (like Wlad)

    Johnson - 3
    Schmeling - 4 or 5
    Walcott - lots of them
    Carnera - 3
    Wills - 3
    Braddock - lots of them

From the "run of the mill" heavyweight champions that list would be quite big I figure.

    Whats the problem?

We have a thread for most defences, I just thought it would be nice to havea list for HW champions who lost to weaklings.

but sure thanks for letting everyone know that Wlad is high on the list. NOt sure if its JUST A CONINCIDENCE but theres no ATGs on this list so far. Braddock is a HOFer I guess.

    Jack Johnson has several

Braddock had too many to mention

    Patterson had several

    Spinks probably takes the cake

leon spinks, naa he was a fluke, shouldn't have been champ, and his losses as a titlist are to Ali.

Patterson had several but none during his titlist years except to very good opponents, so no.

Johnson, no, not during his titlist years, only as an oldie, I am not putting JJ in for that exact reason, he doesn't fill the questions criteria.

Braddock is the one who has many. The joker in the pack.

And Wlad fits the description well, 3 losses to bare fringe contenders.

how would I be baiting when this thread specifically asks for HW champions who lost to weak opponents?

This is a broad category, is it not? WHere does the title mention Klitschko?

If you include heavyweight "titlists", Weaver has to be up there.

yeah I know its difficult isn't it. Idont want to include seasonal champs who hold the title for a few weeks. But surely Weaver isn't just that.
