Briggs and Rahman are better than half the trash on his resumé already like Bean, Ross Purritty and Williams (Even as a Brit and a big Danny fan, he was never world level).
I personally believe that Vitali's resume is greater than Wlad's. His recent run beating Peter, Gomez, Arreola, and Johnson has been impressive. And his dominance in those wins, and his in ring demeanor and poise make it clear to me that Vitali is the greater brother, in terms of resume, head to head, and consistency. Losses are taken into account when discussing resume.
who actully gives him respect, for those fight's? what about the way he dominated sam peter, gave lewis a hell of a fight, danny williams had just come of beating mike tyson! just beat unbeaten american prospect arreloa! with not saying he has a great resume, im saying that names like briggs and rahman arent worthy names to boost the cv
They are proven names. Proven title holders and they've fought some of the best guys around. Arreola fought nobody up until fighting Vitali, his best win is Jameel McCline or Travis Walker for **** sake. Same with Kevin Johnson, who had he beaten? Bruce Seldon? Devin Vargas? Robert Hawkins? HA! And Williams was never world level as I said, Tyson was finished when Williams fought him. McBride beat Tyson aswell, does that also make him world-class?
Vitali's entire worth is based on how he performed against an old, inactive Lennox Lewis, the truth of the matter is he never separated himself from Byrd or Ruiz after beating Sanders, further more the Latter had both won a number of title fights against ranked contenders, flash forward to today and Wlad is Clearly the HW in the world and a level above him.
proven champions, so you must credit valuev for his win over a 44 year old holyfield!, clear a proven champion, a proven champion, didnt rahman get beat in his rematch cant remember him having the belt before that, he luckily beat lewis, lewis never even trained, Rahmans name on a cv, would no way make his resume anywhere close to been a ATG, if you had all those names on that list in Vitali's CV tht still wouldnt stand against the ATG
Great post . very acurate in terms of the overall value that is lost on alot of fans not following the history in order to to preserve this sport. it's why alot of old timers rate fighter we see as inferior. all we got is old tape and for some even no tape but their memeory banks hold alot of knowledge which is why why just can't right all of them off as generational Bias all the time. some make some valid point . Best way to evaluate a resume is like some one posted wait 5-10 years. look at the enire resume.look at the opponets, thier records going into the fight how they performed, how they won or lost, and what the opponet achieved after their meeting(s). that way would can proprerly gauge if the majority of the opponets were good contenders, Journeymen,Tomato cans, over hyped undefeated contenders, good ticket sellers,Belt holders, Linear champions, and ATG's. it's about what your opponets achieve after you've beaten them or loss to them (in some cases). like in the instance of good ticket sellers some time a famous name although not in their prime, or not really all that great can inhance a resume to a great deal also what the opponet achieved in the run up to the fight can add or subtract to it. all this has to be taken into account.
I agree, but can you honestly name 1 defining fight in Wlad's career that even comes close to the lewis/vitali fight , Wlad has never had that fight against an opponent at the same level of lewis. Vitali has and will there fore be held in a higher regard than wlad
Lewis (who is greater than Vitali, both head to head and by resume), doesn't get close to the slagging either Klitschko gets on here. BTW, IMO, Zelejko Mavrovic was Lewis' toughest defence (not counting his two slip-ups). That was a great fight, and very close. I don't know why we never saw Mavrovic again.
