Because he's fighting in the present era, but as soon as he retires he'll get the recognition that he deserves and be remembered as one of the greats.
Top 25 maybe.. I think Wladimir is overrated though. He didn't fight Lennox Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson or his brother! He has been KO'ed 3 times. Kessler's record is better in my eyes.
There's a topic entitled 'Is Wlad a top 30 heavyweight' and a lot of people said no, this is a response to that.
1. Did he fight in the black/white era and was he one of the best? If YES he's in, If NO goto 2. 2. Is he very good and American? If YES he's in, If NO goto 3. 3. Is he very good and at least Canadian at one point in his life? If YES he's in, If NO goto 4. 4. Is he very good and beat a guy who's already in while in his prime? If YES he's in, If NO goto 5. 5. Is he very good and at least retired for 15 years? If YES he's in, If NO then wait until he is.
Tyson and Holy were shot by the time Wlad established himself. You foget Wlad was a dangerous prospect coming up and wasn't a payday. Up and coming fighters don't dictate to established fighters. The Lewis fight goes both ways, but really it doesn't because it wasn't as a must have fight at that stage in Wlad's career. I don't see it.
Yes, i saw it afterwards sorry about that. I had just read another K2 related thread of yours and i kind of felt like "this guy has a gigantic chip on his shoulder". :arran
I don't think you can justify it with logic. if we break it down then here is how it will look 1) 30 heavies with better resume? no 2) 30 heavies with better H2H? no 3) 30 heavies with better longetivity? no 4) 30 heavies that are more entertaining? yes 5) 30 heavies that are a different race/culture/background? yes (i hate brining the race card but sometimes people choose their favorites based on race and discredit others on the same basis) you get the point... I personally consider Wlad top 10 (moving towards top 5 with a few more solid wins) but i know most on ESB don't.
Why don't u list all the opponents Wlad fought and beat that would either beat of give hell to the likes of Ali, Louis, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Holmes, Foreman, Frazier etc There's an argument for any and every one of these guys in their primes beating Wlad (u could say vice versa) and (other than Louis) all those guys fought each other... How many ATG's on Wlad's resume?
