Id rather be known as a runner.

Then someone who takes to much punishment.

I think he had to do that against froch, I think he got hit clean like twice and lost lol

I think there is a difference between running and effective footwork. I think Ward is overrated but he has some great footwork. He is safe yet is always in a position to fire back, Dirrel just seems like his main objective is to get away.

RUNNING is dumbest word from boxing fans, first boxer are not fighting on football field they are fighting in the ring, if someone is able to "run" it is because he has better footwork than his opponent, if Froch only knew how to cut the ring of Dirrell would not be able to "run":good If someone knows how to cut the ring off no one will be able to "run away" in the ring!!!

He has amazing footwork, as you wrote always in position to fire back, and alway to far away or to close for you to hit him he dictated alot with his footwork it is not flashy but it is amazing!!!

This, but not in that order. Rigo is first, in my humble opinion.

I'm not a PAC hater, but I respectfully disagree. PAC relies on his speed and mostly jumps in and out contrary to what HBO commentators have said about his footwork during fights. It's a big reason why he will always struggle against a good counter puncher like Marquez. PAC can get away with it against most fighters with his blazing speed and power, but not against skilled boxers with excellent footwork (very few in boxing today). Although he has shown some lateral movement at times he always resorts back to his jumping in and out style of fighting.

Agree with most others mentioned. Klitscko, not sure if excellent footwork or if it is excellent size advantage and jab.

    yeah true.

Wards foot movement is great, and he sets up traps, he gets out the way, but not to far, dirrell I guess over done it, thats why he lost his 0, he should of been a little bit more brave and better in the pocket.

I guess wards footwork is underated as he aint been mentioned a lot.

Anyone mentioning Pac is mistaking quick feet for good footwork, he often lunges forward off balance.

Rigo, Hopkins, Floyd, Marquez & Ward seem the obvious choices.

Yeeahhh man. Of course his positioning leaves much to be desired but his footspeed is just insane. It's like Hatton, someone who has very good footwork based off his speed alone, seeing as his positioning was also very average. Footspeed alone is a huge part of what made Roy Jones, and a huge part of what makes good footwork - not to dismiss the importance of the actual skills element of footwork.

    Worst has to be khan.

He cant find his feet after a jab

    He ran backwords vs peterson

Roided peterson had to get his jog on to catch up.

Khan makes footwork look very hard

Rigo has great footwork but in every poll he is getting overrated. Just a few fights before everyone was saying he looked average and was rocked by a bum.

Most of all though you have to factor in the stance. Rigo's footwork is going to look better because he is a Southpaw. Most guys just arent use to facing them and will struggle against them which is another reason why Lucas didnt look very special against Zab & Devon.

If Rigo was a righty, his footwork would be good but there is no way everyone would say he's #1 or way above the rest of the pack. At the same time if guys like Floyd or Hopkins were Southpaw then no one would ever touch them

    "Prime Floyd" ?

The guy still has the best foot work around.. always well balanced and poised when looking to throw and when getting himself out the way.

Also uses his feet to great effect to set traps.
