Then again A LOT of people were saying "Calzaghe barely beat a shot Hopkins." My list, I was aiming towards the top fighters who were still in the mix.. Though some might not really be completely shot or bummed, none of them are in their prime anymore.. The prime Hopkins was 20x better than he is today.. But if you want to go with fighters such as Morales, Trinidad, or Holyfield or some other elite fighters from back in the day who haven't fought in ages and are basically semi-retired, then I guess you can list all of them then.. But I was going for the ones still in the title mixes and in the rankings..
Rahman, Holyfield, Ouma, Forrest, Echols, Cassamayor, JL Castillo, Morales or Barrera if they fight again, Roy Jones. it's not that some of these guys won't still win fights, but they are either shot or borderline shot.
to many people have strange definitions of what a shot fighter is. a fighter who can see openings but cannot get off any more. a fighter who can no longer take a punch and goes down as if shot a fighter who looks like he is 50 foot underwater and fighting in slow motion a fighter who comes out and just covers up , no longer having any motivation or pride in there performance. a fighter who is now boxing at lower club level, but is still trading on his name. does not have to fail all of these but it is a good indicator. holyfield is the very definition of shot-he simply cannot get off with his punches anymore when that was his main assett. forrest is not shot hopkins is not shot they are just older and cannot fight at the pace they once could but they still have skills and all there faculties. tyson being ko`d by mcbride now that is shot mora outpointing and outhustling forrest is just a case of styles make fights.
10. Vernon Forest 9. Jeff Lacy 8. Kermit Cintron 7. Evander Holyfield 6. David Tua 5. Vitali Klitschko 4. James Toney 3. Johnny Tapia 2. Fernando Vargas 1. Arturo Gatti "RETIRED" fighters are included on my list because unless they have been retired for at least 5 years - their status could suddenly change to active at any moment.
Good post. If a fighter is even slightly past his prime on here, or has a loss, he's labelled a "shot" fighter.
My guess would be that the majority of people who post here would call every boxer shot EXCEPT Manny Pacquiaoatsch.
