    Joe takes it...

    1) Workrate

    2) Stamina

There are planty of other reasons but the main one is being able to fight for 3 minutes of a round for 12 rounds.

    1. Joe takes this fight because he wants to tart-up his resume.

    2. Bernard takes this fight because he's delusional and thinks he can win.

    :)

Joe has admitted he throws wide punches, but only against lesser opposition, where he doesn't concerntrate as much, like Bika and Manfredo. But against Lacy and Kessler he threw straight bombs. Which meant he was very rarely caught.
Hopkins may have a perfect record against southpaws, but Calzaghe has a perfect record against boxers. :yep

    B-Hop

    - Stategical wisdom: Bernard is a genius with one powerful but underused chess move which can be called as castling his opponent - It involves removing the king from its normal position in the center of the board and placing it in a protected corner. With a single move, all of the plans that one's opponent has in the works are turned upside down.

    - Superior Sharpshooting: Cat claws, dogs scratch. Technically you can't claw like a dog.

    Great Thread acb.

He can brawl and is crafty enough to create a lot of physical and technical problems to Bernard but he can't out-think him most of the time and he surely can't over-power him. So it would be Calzaghe tryin to offset and outclass a very seasoned fighter in Las Vegas and for that capital career triumph in either man's career. Consider that this is not a support declaration and that I perfectly can see the total opposite of that - which makes this one that fascinating, b'sides the fact that they are former MW and SMW champions with more than 20 successful title defenses. Thank All Mighty Lord that it happens b'cause I felt that it was slippin away...

    Hopkins
    1. Hops is the underdog, he lives to win these fights.
    2. He will make Calzaghe fight the way he wants Calzaghe to fight him, (through frustation) similar to Winky.

1- Bernard is a master at making a fighter fight his fight...a master at slowing down his opponents pace, movement and output. Both of these work against Joe...when his biggest assets against Bernard are speed and workrate.

2- Bernard's timing is impecable...among the best in the game. Joe has a decent, but very open defense. Everytime he tries to up his workrate, Bernard's counter punching will score at will. Everytime Calzaghe drops his gloves ready to jump in (which he does OFTEN), Hopkins straight right will find its mark.

I have more reasons....but ya only asked for two.

99 percent agree with, sues2nd. I have all of Bernard's Championship fights on tape ( and more) and am a student of the game. Hopkins is always in control of the pace, subtly altering the tempo, morphing the rhythm through speed-ups, slowdowns and changeovers. He can slow down the tempo, decelerate his breathing and heartbeat even against super-flashy, fluid and ultra-busy Joe Calzaghe. Strategic approaches like against Taylor in 2004 and 2005 ( even though having been losing efforts) and the Tarver and the Wright fights are a lil bit beyond Calzaghe's experience, as crafty as Joe is. I don't give much credit if these fights and the style are ugly or not and to the fight hype itself - all been meant to manipulate Joey into standing up to him and break his focus, drawn to him like fishes on unseen hooks... He can easily slid a foot forward and break in Calzaghe's circle at fight time and Joe's mind will have a very hard time absorbing those right hands in Vegas. Still, Joe has tremendous fighting heart and a lot of ability himself but I don't know about the mental strength required to win.

calzaghe is pure boxer bernard is a boxer puncher. if calzaghe wins i see it as a decision only. i can't see jc knocking out even an old bh.

this will be interesting whern it plays out. lol there hasn't been a truly exciting hopkins fight in a while in regards to competition. i gaurantee calzaghe fans will be expecting a great fight and hopkins fans will probably expect a slower, more tactical bout.

if the fight is slow bernard will win...if it is faster calzaghe will win. the tempo of this fight will determine the winner
