these are influenced by when boxing left its biggest mark on us, so for me its terrestrial tv boxers from the UK's 90s on the whole, they strike the images that come to mind first and foremost.

Dave McAuley (for being relentless)
Nigel Benn (same reason as Dave, but with some Ike sauce thrown in)
Terry Marsh (showboating fun)
Lloyd Honeyghan (awesome talent, burnt out too soon)
Mike Tyson I guess....really don't like the man though

these are the ones that strike the biggest chord, probably because they reflect that childish feel of physical invincibility I had as a very young man.

 

Nasim Hamed was one of these incredible brits I grew up with, but its hard to look up to him as a proper hero, he was playing the villain all the time.

 

Calzaghe became famous way too late to lay down a legend during the 90s, he was an unknown back then until round about 2007.

during the kessler hype we all began watching him true, but on closer examination, the terrible lies he tells, an abhorrent marital life, drug abuse, poor % strike/damage ability and cowardly showboating against weaklings disclude him from being someone to look up to. Hes really not someone to look up to, like Hamed (though Naz was much better in the ring).
