Stanley Christodolou deserves a mention as a ref. Never saw him screw up too badly in any fight he officiated.
Bayless is both great at his job and comes across as a genuinely good guy to me. If he drops the ball on something, he apologizes and moves on. I really like him. There's no bull**** with Bayless. He's not there on an ego trip, but he will keep it running smoothly. Lane was such a scrappy little ****er, I liked him a lot as well. If he told guys twice his size to break it up and they didn't, he might even push one of them out of the ring. Which did, now that I think about it. He looked like a bossy little leprechaun when he did heavyweight fights. Once, I can't remember the fight, he pushed these guys apart and hissed "Aw, cut that **** out." and the Colonel goes "Referee Mills Lane says...to stop that stuff." He's given me many laughs.
Mills Lane, hands down. I always kinda' like Richard Steel's approach in the ring, but Mills an entertainer. Given how corrupt the sport of boxing is, (sigh...) I don't care if the ref has an agenda, I just want to be entertained.
Kenny Bayless hands down. Great Ref. #2 i'd have Tony Weeks. Surprised only one other person on this thread mentioned him?!?
