List your top 10 HW boxers, if you can...

i don't really follow the heavyweights closely anymore...its hard enough dealing with all the excitement from light heavy down...but i like golota...povetkin looks good from his youtube clips...how many fights has he had?..they only have 5 or 6 of his fights...he looks like he's gnna b good 4 the division...fit n likes 2 fight

 

Klitschko is the only HW worth watching nowadays. All the other champions are complete chumps. Maskaev is an old man. Imbragimov and Chagaev are pretty much B level fighters at best. Peter is probably the only other good hw out there, but after his fight with McCline i think he was way overrated.

There's about where I'd put the top six. Not sure beyond that.

 

It's not like an ancient Holyfield is someone you need to be extra cautious over. He used his speed, however, when he let his hands go he had the best success because Holyfield has no answer.

Granted, it leaves him open for a counter, especially since Ibrag's defence is **** poor(running is not technical defence mate...) and as I said, perhaps defending a potential poor chin.

Find me where I said he should swing like a dumbass, I just expect more of an effort mate than a track and field exhibition against a non-threatening opponent.

There is a difference between outboxing and overly cautious running.

Yes, he suffered a flash KD against light hitting Ahunaya, light hitting Ray Austin and one other that I forget. Obviously he had something to fear from Holyfield's non-existant 1 punch KO power.

 

Throw Chagaev in with those others also, it's not as if 3 close fights with Ruiz, Valuev & Virchis are anything inspiring.

Wlad's actually dominated his recent opponents.

That's about right. But I do put Chagaev ahead of everyone but Wlad, easily.

 

Sultan beat Briggs 11 rounds to 1. Sultan beat Holyfield 10 rounds to 2. He has totally dominated in the fights. Many was saying Briggs was going to KO him early , and even many here picked Holyfield to win, give him some credit!

Sultan has shown excellent hand speed, foot work, and skills. I can understand not liking his style , but he has been boxing very impressively, winning nearly all the rounds . He has won 21 out 24 rounds in his two title fights!

 

I also think that Thomspon is a bit underrated,and that Povetkin is the real deal and deserves a spot among the top 10.Like our fellow poster sean I would also rank the Cuban Gomez among the 10 best heavies.He has the talent and skills,but sorrowly prefers partyhing to sweating inside a gym.
Nevertheless he will beat McCall again(whom he has already beaten).
Gomez has the tools to beat quite a handful of the present top20 list.
