Right on Q ****in gotta love Rob Floyd Can i change my poster of the year vote ? Page and Bofando are 2 really good shouts actually, plus i was actually thinking of including Vinny Maghalaes, all things considered this guy can be a really big force, sounds crazy but he could beat Jon Jones now given his skill set!
I'll allow it. As for Vinny, I think Jones eats him alive. No way he can take him down, and his striking isn't at a level where he can hang with Jones. He would have to try for some kind of crazy flying submission, and the possibility of that working is pretty low in an MMA setting. Oh yeah, Cosmo Alexandre! Another guy to look out for in 2013. Hopefully he will be stepping up in competition.
Rustam Khabilov impressed me with his suplex KO. Stephen Thompson impressed with his slick kick KO Daron Cruickshank looked dangerous in dispatching Martinez on the UFC on FOX 5 prelims. I'd still list Michael McDonald although he is challenging Barao for the interim Batnamweight title at UFC on Fuel 7. The way he dispatched Miguel Torres was frightening. At lightheavyweight - Phil Davis is still waiting to blossom into a full fledged MMA machine. His dominance of Wagner Prado in Brazil was brilliant. On any other card that didn't featured Damian Maia putting a choke on Rick Story so strong that blood shot out of his nose like a fire hose and Nogeuria locking a sentimental classical armbar submission on the self proclaimed non-submittable man - Dave Herman - Davis' smooth anaconda choke would have won submission of the night. Anthony Pettis - NINJA KICK, bitches!
Dhiego and Douglas Lima are both still guys to keep an eye on, despite showing weaknesses against strong wrestlers. Douglas may be past the point of prospect, though, having fought for the WW title in Bellator. Gunnar Nelson is very interesting.
I dont necessarily believe that is true If Vinny gets a grip of Jones on the floor, from his back or the unlikely top position, he can tap him! his striking is a problem I agree, but if Jones knowingly took Vinny to the ground IMHO Maghalaes's JJ is that good and varied he could finish the fight. Barbosa vs Alexandre would be a blistering fight!
I had Jon Fitch winning. Allegorizing to a Carlos Condit/Rory MacDonald scenario. And at 23, Jordan Mein has already put together a resume that surpasses Erick Silva's (28 years old). Mein's talent is absolutely stupid. And I believe by the end of the next 5 years, both MacDonald and Mein, would have not only beaten but also undoubtedly overshadowed Silva.
