One minute did i read that right? Saki vs Hari? Manhoef vs Spong? This content is protected I can feel a tear running down my cheek.... And Melvins my boy but he's getting killed. And what happened to his SF contract?
Why the **** Manhoef/Spong is on the undercard, I do not know. I heard that they aren't showing the undercard live on HDnet, and are going to show it the following Friday.
Badr Hari is gonna be a boxer? WHY?! Seriosuly aren't the top K1 fighters pretty well paid? I thought they used to get more than MMA fighters at least.
I always thought Overeem should have at least dip a toe into the heavyweight boxing waters when coming off the K-1 tournament victory. If Harrison could get a title shot against Haye off of a Prizefighter tournament victory and a victory over Sprott, no reason Overeem couldn't.
Overeem wouldn't have been effective. He's not used to fighting 3 minutes of 3 rounds. Couple that with his chin, overt muscularity (of which all those muscles are completely ineffective in boxing and need oxygen) and conservative output without being able to put them together he wouldnt even be a quarter as successful -if you can even use that word to describe Audley- as Harrison.
I was thinking of it more as a gimmick to get a big pay day off Haye - this in the days when it looked like he was stuck in Strikeforce in terms of US MMA due to a champions clause. Do Prizefighter which is a format he's used to and then see if you can get a match with Haye. Even if he loses (which he almost certainly would) he'd still get a bumper pay day.
