Liston as a referee in the 70s and 80s

    For those who don't know, Liston also did some refereeing. He refed a welter weight world championship fight and he even refed a fight where Cleveland Williams was one of the competitors, but I can't remember against whom. I often wonder how good of a referee would Liston have made had he lived and decided to remain in the squared circle as a third man after he retired. Imagine him being the ref for say Rumble in the Jungle or Thrilla in Manila or Tyson/Spinks

    He refereed the Denny Moyer-Joey Giambra NBA world junior middleweight title fight in Portland on October 20, 1962, but I believe the decision was rendered by three ringside judges rather than two ringside judges and the referee.

    The Williams fight was David Bailey, KO5. Also one of the Terrell fights.
