    Exaggerated?

For a large amount of his career he didn't weigh much more than 200 pounds, and he's listed at being 6 feet, 1/2 inch feet tall.

Not quite what comes to mind when I visualize him at times, I'd got to admit.

Thoughts? Was he just larger than he really was?

Well his size is his size - you can see it written down as you say.

But his physicality is a different matter, that's what people mean when they talk about Liston in the ring.

I always thought he was 215 in his prime...
Guys like him and Foreman were big for their time.

Well, Liston was 6 feet tall and 200 Lbs, which wasn't exactly big even for those days, when you consider that Joe Louis, who came 2 years before Liston was 6'2' and around 205.

He was like a giant trapped in a smaller for todays HW body.
    Super long reach
    Giant shoulders,arms & chest.
Biggest fist in HW history last time I heard.

Like Dokes, most of Liston's reach was in his collarbone. His arms were noticably shorter than Cleveland Williams's from shoulder to fist. But his ramrod jab was usually sufficient to keep people off of him, and he had a very durable body. He was very solidly built, not at all too slender or short. With his jab, he'd fit right in today.

He still has plenty of muscle. IMO he the perfect example of what a muscular boxer should look like, muscular, but not some body builder.

The weight does not tell the whole story.

I think the distribution of his weight makes him so imposing. He had a very deep and broad chest, and tree trunk arms.

A very impressive physical specimen, and as Bill says, not like a body builder but a more natural contruction

I think you can tell his frame was big. Huge shoulders, long arms, big wrists and boulders for fists. He kept in good shape but he grew and I'd say a good 215 was his weight. I also think his legs were quite disproportioned to his upper body. I think he had the legs of someone who was about 6 foot but the upper body of someone who is about 6'5.

He had the legs of Shavers, but he had the upperbody of Primo Carnera.

Look at it this way: Calvin Brock is bigger. But in today's heavyweight scene, he seems smallish. And he's not as strong as Liston.
