There are proberbly men out there that nobody heard of who could register harder blows on a scientifically proven device but they would never have the skill to land more than a glancing blow on a world class fighter.

That's why the question should always be "who could land his best shot on a greater fighter" rather than who hit harder because a better fighter won't get hit full force off anyone, he anticipates everything and decides if a good punch becomes a glancing blow or not.

Listons best punch would only be a glancing blow if the other man is good. It won't mean he hits any worse than Foreman.

Foremans best punch might land and just tickle someone if he was rolling away.

They both flattened anyone if they landed good ...and that is all that counts.

But that goes for thousands of fighters.

Simple Foreman fought the bigger and better opponents and still had a higher knock out percentage. Liston knocked out glass chin Patterson. Not impressive. Foreman's knock out of Frazier was much better. I doubt Liston could beat Frazier period.

Sonny was as awesome at his best as big George and as with most of you I couldn't pick which harder either. My friend Fred Askew fought the young George Foreman and was ko'd early and this is what he said about Foreman's power; When Fred was a teenager he lived on a farm in Tennessee and one day got behind an enraged horse that kicked Fred in the head and he didn't wake up for two days. Fred says George hit harder, and he means it.

Foreman might have had more raw power, but Liston had better technique. Sonny could turn the lights out without using a dimmer.

I read that as well. I don`t know that Liston ever really connected on Ali the way Foreman did. Big George teed off on Ali in Zaire but Liston just couldn`t catch up to the younger 60s version of Ali.

ETM George Foreman landed flush punches to Ali's face? What fight were you watching? Foreman landed solid punches to the body but very few to the face.

He landed alot more than Liston did.

Ali stood right in front of Foreman and took his shots full force to the body yes George landed some shots to the head as well. So ofcourse he felt George`s power probably alot more than he felt Sonny Liston`s power. Liston just coudn`t land on Ali because he couldn`t find him. Other than that one round where he couldnt see.

It was a different Ali. One that was more elusive and even quicker. It`s pretty simple.
