    By 69 Liston was up to number 2 ranking in BI, something similar in the Ring. WBC had him at #3, WBA something like 5. He was worth a shot at Ellis or Joe at that time but as McVey said "too much to lose fighting him" (although I do think there was something to gain by having that win on a fighters' record).
