That would be a great fight, I think Holmes may just edge it purely on styles, he would be able to get away from Liston for long enough periods in the fight, but it would have its up and downs for sure, Sonny definitely had the power to hurt Larry

    I voted for Holmes.

And I'm not trying to start an argument. But can you name some fights where Liston's brain dazing jab knocked someone back so far he couldn't land a follow-up punch?

I think we all fall into this trap of just saying Liston's jab was "awesome." Liston's jab was like a telephone poll. Liston's jab was like everyone elses's hard right hand.

But I asked the other day and no one responded. Which were the fights you consider Liston's best jabbing performances?

Because I'm pretty sure I've seen everything there is video wise on Liston. And there are many fights where Holmes's jab dominated a fight. Hell, there are fights when Holmes dropped guys with jabs.

But I can't recall any fights off the top of my head where I was like Liston's jab was just INCREDIBLE in that fight. He threw jabs like the best of them. But I don't recall any fights where it was the dominant punch in a fight. He just worked off of it.

Can you? Maybe Wepner? But his jab didn't prevent Liston from following up.

Liston didn’t throw his jab as often as Holmes, he didn’t use it as much because he had more of a variety of punches than Holmes did, if you take Larry’s jab away from him and give him an average jab he wouldn’t be a great fighter, whereas Sonny didn’t rely on it as much, it’s hard to pick a fight where Listons jab dominated because his 2 (four) best wins were the 2 fights against Patterson and Williams, which ended early each time. Holmes had a great jab and it had better attributes than Listons did, but I give the edge to Liston

Holmes jab was more usable so I'll go with Holmes
