Holyfield had a tendency to get sucked into a brawl.

Rahman had the 2nd longest "ape factor" of any boxer i have ever seen listed, 10". Liston & he are both listed at a 7' wingspan, but Rahman was 1 1/2" taller.
Liston is a better boxer & has more power than Rahman.

You can make a case for any of these guys, Holyfield with speed, counter-punching, clinching...Though against that power, length & skills, it would be tough. Lewis MIGHT not do as well, though I have him better in general, since he does not have the same speed, & he could not rely on a length & jab advantage as he usually did, nor be likely to bomb Liston out early.

Prime for prime, for chance of victory I jusge:

    Ali, ~ 70-75%.
    Holmes & Lewis, ~ 40%
    Holyfield, ~ 50%

Hard to overpower Liston, Ali would have a significant advantage because of his extra speed, reflexes & psychological warfare. A chin is essential too.

The only swarmer I would give a near ever chance is Tyson. And he is not a traditional awarmer, but his speed defense & chin gives him a chance.

Frazier, Dempsey, Marciano would not be able to bomb or tire him out. They would get hit too often & be KOed a good 80% of the time.

It would take an ATG slugger, Foreman could do it or tire & lose.

Very few others would have a decent chance.

The Klitchkos 50% if they are allowed to be kling-ons & open up Clinch-Co. Inc.
    Maybe, at best.

Of course 84", & all wingspans, cover the fully outstretched hands & fingers.
Liston had famously masive hands, 15" fists, & you can see how long his fingers are when he holds them up to say his 1st fight with Ali will take 2 rounds.
These measurements also include the distance across the chest, which is a product of bone structur/width, not muscularity. Liston was very broad.

I think your 3.5" middle finger is average for a man. Obviously men tend to have longer fingers, & those closer to the middle are longer. Men tend to have longer ring fingers than pointers, a product of testosterone.

It is not at all obvious that Williams has longer arms than Liston, let alone "much longer". Recall also that thicker limbs look shorter than thinner ones, & the visible arms in a boxing match do not cover the hand, fingers, & the chest contributes to wingspan.

Cosell refers to Liston's Left as long like a telehone pole, then later his "long, long left".
This is the only time I saw Liston's wingspan listed less than 84".

That, along with superior outboxing ability, is also why I'd make Wlad a clear favorite over Liston.

Holyfield 91 would humiliate the overrated quitter bum without heart and evander would sshow him what a Man is, stopped by combinations against the ropes, evander was better in everything, he was better combination puncher too

Liston has the obvious advantage in tale of the tape, chin. adaptability, strength, jab, cuts, reach advantage. Obviously your tainted english makes it far harder for us to read this. I am just wondering who do you think beats Liston?

foreman proved his power, strength and quality vs full sized great, very good and elite hws, not against jurassic, guys, cans and fragile 180-190 pounders like liston did, foreman never got beaten by a 180 pounder guy an dmuch less got stopped by a can like leotis martin(jimmy young would liston look stupid) , he was competitive in his 40s vs a peak evander and he won the title in his 40s after he was retired 10 years , foreman was bigger, tougher, stronger, mentally stronger, had a bigger heart, he wa snot a quitter like sonny, liston was the classic bully that when he was not the aggressor he lost the confidence in himself , foreman proved himself after he got dropped twice by lyle(heavier and probably as strong and probably hits harder than liston, foreman rated lyle at one of the hardest hitters that he fought sparring or real fight, and foreman never mentioned sonny, but he did with cleveland williams ) , he got up in this fight with lyle and won by ko sorry if i hurt your fellings, but liston is a overrated garbage who is not a top 20 hws, you can argue a top 5 for george

And you do? You are a liar and a hypocrite. That is why I despise you. I'm still waiting for those prime fights (prime as in 1958-1961) Liston weighed 201 pounds.

This is revisionist, dishonest bull**** of the worse kind.
More reprehensible than that, it is outright deliberate lying.
    http://www.***********.com/george-foreman-discusses-friendship-with-sonny-liston--47293.
    It is outright lying.
Earnie shavers personally told me Liston hit harder than anyone he faced (including Lyle) he sparred with Liston. If Liston is not in your top 20, I simply don't know where to begin. What does your top 20 look like? What happened to your alt combaxestedo (or however the **** it's spelled) You forgot to mention Liston standing up to Cleveland Williams. You only thing Young would beat Liston because he beat your boyfriend Foreman.
A lot of folks will compare this fight to the one Young had with Big George Foreman and they are similar in a lot of ways except Sonny did like to move around and throw that long jab behind that 84 inch reach to set up his power punches a little bit more than Foreman did. Young is not a mover like Ali was in his early fights with Liston that caused Sonny so many problems and is a lighter puncher that couldn't dent the chin of Sonny.
An ALI wannabe is all it took to make ALI 76 look bad. That ALI rarely ever trained and didn't train at all for Young. Like Ken Norton before him, Jimmy Young was "good", not great. Also, like Norton, Young received a lot of his credit due to his fight with a rusty untrained ALI. Young wasn't as good as many thought he was.

There is no way Young would keep enough distance between himself and Liston. He would also not be able to use his speed or movement and he wouldn't be able to defend against Liston's jab and eventual pile-driving right hands. It's just a matter of time.

Please respectfully (unlike Heavy_handss) tell me why you think Liston is overrated.
