I do think Mercer, Bruno, Golota (maybe), Ruddock would be tough fights but I'm ready to make Liston the favorite. I certainly don't think he'd get rid of them as easily as he did Cleveland Williams or Roy Harris

Of course you’re going to talk up a fighter people will criticise as being over the hill. My source is the fight as it unfolds. & really, when you flog a guy 10-2, I don’t blame Lewis.

It's ****ing insane! Arguing for a prime Holyfield over Liston is one thing (I favor Liston over Holy prime for prime but have zero issues with anyone taking Holy) but people genuinely think this version of Holy and Liston is 50-50. I'm honestly not sure this version of Holyfield beats Patterson truth be told (though he obviously faired far better against Lewis than Patterson ever would've).

It's all about the names, I suppose.

What I learned from growing up in the Liston-Patterson era was that losing is inevitable. Even the greatest fighters will lose eventually. If Marciano hadn't retired young, he would have lost, too. Back in 1961-62, we couldn't imagine Sonny getting beat. We really thought he was invincible. Even the hard bitten sportswriters of major newspapers thought so. Some of them thought it might take another 10 years before time could defeat him. We're not so naive today. I look at the list of fighters you've put forth. No way Liston beats them all. About half of them would present a significant challenge. Even Tyrell Biggs, who doesn't get any love here, shapes up
as a difficult opponent for Liston because he had a long reach and he moved and jabbed so well.
