Liston in 1. No heavy with an only average chins and limited boxing abilities stand a chance with the bear, no matter how hard he hit.

That's it in a nutshell.Far more interesting fight woulda been Cleveland (Big Cat) Williams against Earnie Shavers. Two big bangers, with not so great defense or chins.

Liston by ko in 2. Way superior skills, much more solid chin, better 2 handed puncher.

This is like asking who would win if a great white shark fought a moose in the middle of the ocean. On land the moose would have a chance, or in the case of Liston-Shavers "on land" meaning if Liston's arms were tied behind his back and he had LSD injected into his eyeballs. But in the ocean, not a moose's natural habitat, (they aren't good swimmers) the shark would win. I doubt this analogy made any sense, I wish I could say I was high and leave it at that.
