When you’ve seen as much footage as I’m sure we have all seen, it’s nice to see something you’ve never actually seen before - check out the gem below. Perhaps we can hold out for better footage of the fight itself coming to light than we currently have? You never know your luck in a big city (read big city = Internet/YouTube). The 1966 Ali-Jones exhibition appeared lost to time (or even never filmed at all) until turning up just a few years ago. I will say that there’s much clearer footage of some fights going back 50 - 60 years prior than the footage we currently have of Liston - Wepner - What we do have appears to have been filmed using the old, Super 8 home movie camera. Crazy but better than nothing. Lol. I’ll also note that it is a surprisingly jovial Liston seen here - Chuck himself doesn’t appear so comfortable. Shocking to think that in just 6 months time Sonny would be dead. Funny that Sonny at least appears relatively svelte at 219 lbs. What was Wepner’s reach - 78”/79”? Imo, Liston’s long arms and uniquely oversized hands are duly upheld in the vision. This content is protected
