Where would you rank it among heavyweights, and why?

#1. Machen describes feeling "paralysed" by his body shots, he was literally unable to fall to the ground.

Anyone who met him in the ring was destroyed.

It's tight between these guys and Liston...i don't have a problem with someone puting one or all of these three above him, it's fair, but i will say - have a look at Sonny's jab. It looks like it might kill a normal man. That is not mormal even for the guys you have named.

Listons power is definently top 5 in my opinion. The only guy that clearly hit a little harder was Shavers. The rest like Foreman, Tua, Tyson etc. are all in the same league.

Machen never fought Tyson, Foreman, Shavers or Lewis

Of course. It was just an example of the many testimonys that fighters have offered up concerning Liston's strength and power.

I could have picked others. Foreman for example sparred with Liston, and called him the only man who ever stopped him dead with a punch. In sparring.

I think you may have to let go this notion that Tyson is in with these guys though. Tyson was an ATG top 3 heavyweight finisher (my choice for #1) but he didn't have the type of power these boys had.

Liston's power is comparable to Foreman's IMO. Top 5 ever.

Machen did fight that little guy called Johansson who knocked the living crap out of him in one round whereas Liston couldn't deck him in 12 rounds. How does that reflect on Sonny?

Liston has great power though. Although i'd rank a Tyson or a Foreman a bit ahead of him. He was slow as **** yet still scored many knockouts so his power must have been very good.
