Valdes KO 4 Williams- Valdes catches williams with a big left hook and finishes him off with a volley of lefts and rights. Williams wins first 3 rounds.

Norton was only KO'd when he was green and or scared shitless............... Patty would not put fear into the bigger and stronger Norton........

    1. Norton by mid-round KO; too strong and powerful.
    2. Witherspoon either gets a surprise KO (a la Johansson) or wins on points in a dull-ish technical fight.
    3. Whoever lands first.
    4. If Mercer lets his hands fly, he should beat Folley by mid- or late-round stoppage.
    5. Shavers by KO.
    6. Weaver by late KO after a see-saw battle.
    7. Williams by mid-round stoppage.
    8. No idea.
    9. See above.
    10. Berbick uses his size and strength to mug his way to an ugly decision win.
    11. Smith by late KO; too big and powerful.
    12. Both men produce similarly brilliant exhibitions of skill and finesse and the fight ends in a draw.

Yaaa chris remove Besmanoff and Marshall as soon as you can. Replace them with good fighters like Summerlin and Clark. Besmanoff and Marshall are goof troopers.

    1. Patterson vs Norton = Patterson by UD or a KO
    2. Machen vs Witherspoon= Machen by SD
    3. Cleveland Williams vs Cooney= I like Gerry here but could go other way
    4. Folley vs Mercer- I like Foley to outbox Ray
    5. Shavers vs Harris...Acorn by KO
    6. DeJohn vs Weaver depends on the Weaver before Holmes or after
    7. Carl Williams vs Valdes (old) Williams had a glass jaw but I think he UD old Nino
    8. Bethea vs Cobb....could be a draw
    9. Besmanoff vs Snipes
10.Marshall vs Berbick (green)If Marshall could upset and drop Liston
11.Whitehurst vs Smith Smith by SD
12.Wepner vs Butterbean (oh boy) The Bean that fought Holmes beat the Wepner that fought Ali, Chuck was in with better fighters but he had no power and bean keeps popping until Chuckie bleeds Bean UD4

I've always liked the Patterson vs. Norton match-up. It's a real toss-up for me.

Patterson, Machen, Folley, Williams, DeJohn, Valdes, Bethea, Marshall, Wepner, and Besmanoff are Liston's best 10 IMO.

Norton, Witherspoon, Smith, Shavers, Berbick, Weaver, Cooney, Mercer, Williams, Snipes are Holmes best 10 IMO.

Long story short... Holmes beat more quality fighters than Liston.

Patterson, Machen, and Folley were very good... even Williams was pretty good, but the rest of the guys Liston beat weren't much.

Patterson-Norton is actually a juicy standalone fantasy match-up, and may warrant its own thread.
