Not holding out much hope here but im putting this out there on the off chance one of you Boxing historians have any info atall.... Basically my great grandfather, Charlie Miner, was Dixons trainer for a number of years, until the Terry Mcgovern fight in which he lost. He himself boxed in various golden gloves championships ect as an amatuer, boxed pro aswell however nothing on Boxrec. He was murdered before my grandfather was born and his wife died not long after. Long story short no one is really sure what he did after the Mcgovern fight, he was still relatively young, mid to late 30s. Ive tried myself searching but came up with nothing. As i say long shot but you never know :hat
Hi was doing some research on Charlie Miner as he was my great grandad brother, he moved to New York from either Greenock Scotland or else county Wicklow Ireland we are unsure. I have some newspaper clippings and photos of him with George Dixon. Hopefully I'm not to late to get in touch with you.
Charlie Miner was also my Great Grandfathers brother he was born in Greenock Scotland (Charles Marner) in 1870 of Irish parents, father Hugh Marner born County Wicklow 1841? Helen Marner nee Bonner born Derry 1845? Charlie was murdered 29/08/1904 Brooklyn New York. That’s as much as I know but would love to find out more about him.
