I don't usually get bad ones but I've been off training and got sent home from work this week due to this cough and cold. can anyone recommend some home remedies/ tips for keeping them away and getting rid of them when you've caught them?

Raw garlic, not heated. Just eat one or two cloves and wash it away with a shitload of water. Garlic contains allicine, a very potent antibiotic. The thing about allicine is that it's thermolabile, in other words it does not survive heating. I eat one or two cloves every day btw, not just when I'm in risk of getting a cold.

The correct answer would be "proper nutrition" of course but that's not a little thing.

when i started taking cold showers i stopped getting them colds. Maybe its more psychological than anything, but I would turn on cold water and stand under it for a minute. there is no scientific proof that it helps, so I say that its more of a placebo effect, you convince your body that your immune that all this **** and you rarely get sick...and obviously stay away from sick people, wash hands, eat garlic, eat oranges, stay away from dirty skanks

thanks for the replies guys. i'll give the garlic a try. I eat well 90% of the time and I wash my hands a lot as welll. I've also started eating oranges again, for some reason I haven't really ate them much since I was a kid but been eating them this week.

garlic really is the best thing. instead of eating a whoe cloves raw you can just make tea w/ them, the taste isnt as unbearable. it's what i do when i am sick and helps me get over the cold pretty fast. you just take one or two cloves and crush them in something like a garlic mortar, transfer to a cup and add like a 1 cup of boiling water. you can also add honey and lemon to it. it masks the flavor and makes it more effective. drink like 2-3 cups a day.

the first few times you will smell really bad esp if you perspire. it goes away as you drink it more regularly.

  12. Don't forget Green Tea, anti oxidents help clear away the garbage and keep fluids up.

Make yourself up a stew, had a cold coming last week. Had a stew, green tea, stocked up vitamins and that ****er got no where.
