I consider farmer the modern day sweet pea but he's nowhere near as good or as consistent and I consider little Vasyl to be the modern day benny Leonard and in my opinion he is just as good and will probably end up proving to be better as his career continues to progress. I think this is a great fight. Discuss
I don't want this fight to happen because I like them both, and I know Farmer started to grow a raw appreciation for boxing around the time he first sparred Lomachenko and they like each other. I don't want Farmer to lose again. Farmer does have shades of Pea but the most major thing that he's missing that Pea has - instinct & fluid intelligence. Farmer has a lot of skills and techniques but he just doesn't have that thing that just glues it all together. He's quite one-dimensional but he's improving with every fight. The problem for Farmer doesn't stop there. Farmer's style, defensive boxers, counter punchers is a truly awful style to have when going against Lomachenko - based on how he's performed against them and Loma's particular strategy. You can't win in Lomachenko's territory, I don't care who you are in history. Lomachenko has an ability so rare, it's the ability to adapt to a fighter to the extent that it's effects essentially spread like a poison until you're paralytic. He takes everything away from you as a fight goes on. I've never seen that before to that extent.
farmer is not seasoned enought to deal with a crafty vet of the sport like lomachenko. maybe in 2 or 3 years but id always favour loma
Most people will just write this off as trolling but this is a nuanced match-up; Farmer is underrated.
I think farmer can compete, but Lomachenko is just the more complete fighter right now. Lomachenko by UD.
Farmer is good but he doesn't stand any chance at all. I think he knows that himself, part of his strong run is because of his time spent being a sparring partner for Lomachenko. I wouldn't hate seeing the fight, but I don't think it's in Farmers best interests at this stage.
It would be far more one sided and brutal than the Pedraza beating was. http://jp.channel.pandora.tv/channel/video.ptv?ch_userid=jami21&prgid=46771674
Farmer is very good and slick, he would be pretty much the antithesis of a sitting duck for Loma's shots, I think Loma is just in another realm than nearly anyone else anywhere near his size (except Rigo). Farmer turns off and focuses on movement too much at times which is why he'd lose this Competitive win for Lomachenko
Farmer has been improving, but if I'm Farmer's people, that's not the matchup I want for him at all. Even though I have no doubts he'd box well and put up a good defensive game, I just don't see him scoring enough to win many (if any) rounds. As said earlier in the thread, Loma is a horrible style matchup for him. What makes much more sense is Farmer continuing to develop by working with Loma whenever possible. He's probably going to be moving out of that division before Farmer does, and things are going to be open at 130 once that happens.
I'd like to see Farmer in with a top 10 guy first. Don't think he beats Loma either way, but he has been looking good recently and staying active. Fighting tonight again actually. 130 in general is looking stacked at the moment
