Actually, there are only two or three sources that say the opposite of what Klompton says regarding Greb-Tunney. The vast majority concur with his claims. Something like 19 of 23 sources saying Greb should have left the ring with his title after their second fight.

    That's not a conflict. That's a one-sided annihilation. ;)

Tunney was no authority on Greb. If he said Greb was Jewish then it was merely a case of him repeating some rumor he'd heard. Which "Jews" claimed Harry as a Hebrew?

That myth has already been debunked to the best of my knowledge.

Oh, I agree with that. But I also think Tunney has the series 3-2.

Tunney fought Greb 5 times, and was a well read guy. I have read the press of the times sometimes said Greb was Jewish. Their research on the matter is a different story!

I tell both sides of the story of the Tunney Greb series but its pretty cut and dry. Greb won the series 3 to 2. There's no doubt about that. I let the ringside opinions paint that picture. The first and second fights werent even close. The third fight was closer than what is remembered today (some people actually thought Greb won and that it was a robbery but the majority voted for Tunney so you have to give him credit. The majority of ringsiders favored Greb in Cleveland. Tunney won the final fight. In every fight, with the exception of the first, I list out the ringside opinions and how they voted. I note my sources for the first fight but that was such a onesided beating that it was pointless listing out the decisions.

I note which fights are confirmed to have been filmed and have photos of the advertisements. There are others I mention that were planned to have been filmed but that I never found confirmation for.

Greb was not Jewish and I dont touch on that at all because in reading about his background in my book there is no point. Greb was roman catholic as were both of his parents, and grandparents on both sides. He wasnt part Irish either (as is often stated). I can trace his family back several generations on both sides and there is absolutely no truth to the myth that he was either jewish or irish (although he did occasionally claim to be irish, but this was likely either to gain the irish fans or to honor his close friend Leo "Puff" Kelly, whose mother would give Greb an Irish blessing before his bouts).

The Amazon still can't estimate when they can send me the book, even though I placed my order a week ago, and with 2-day delay they sent away another book from the same order, but not the Greb one.

    11 years! That is dedication.

I will be buying the book in the near future from Amazon. The only other Harry Greb book that i know of is called Give him to the Angels: Story of Harry Greb.

    Thankyou for writing this book.

Eleven years is a long time , even for the three authors that have worked on this biography.:yep

Joking aside, I honestly hope the book comes up to expectations , it is much needed.

Hi Senya. The two day delay is for the order to hit the printer and then be shipped out. Where are you ordering from? That might cause an issue in Amazon's delivery estimate (I dont know) but on our end there are no delays or issues with order processing. If I had to guess Id say your book is in route. Keep me posted.

I ordered two books from Amazon on Aug 26. One (Adam's bio of Tommy Burns) I received today (I live in Russia as you know), even though it was sent with two days delay, via UPS. Greb book is not yet shipped (they didn't draw the money from my Visa for it yet), and they can't get estimated date when they are going to send it or when I'm gonna receive it.

That is very strange. The order of my book should be no different than Adams. I will contact the printer and see if it is a problem on their end or on Amazon's. Shoot me an email so I can stay in touch with you off the board about it. If nothing else we will make arrangements for a signed copy directly from me.
