I didn't get it yet. But from America to Europe it might take up to 3 weeks or so.

I just got back from a cross country trip and received the package ... have barely had time to breath but opened it and am blown away by what I see ... without question, first impressions are that this is an instant classic. Cannot wait to read and re-read this treasure. Steve, thank you.

IBRO's Chicago boxing historian JJ Johnston gave a rave review of it to me over the phone. He used words that made it sound like he was describing his favorite porno  All in all, he said it was tremendous.

Just got mine. My favourite thing so far is the picture of Roper and Blackburn  Not sure why.

The foreword is basically one big apology and complaint combined, directed at the people asking him "is the book finished yet? is the book finished yet?" which everyone in here has done at least once.

I'd like to think this is not a rip ... the guy worked his ass off for years and suffered the ridicule from clowns who could not shine his shoes knowledge wise ... I just got mine ... will start this weekend and can't wait ... here's to the man for getting it done ! :good

It wasnt meant to be an apology or a complaint. It was meant to be a sigh of relief as a lot of people (myself included sometimes) didnt think it would ever get finished.

Well, I gave a sigh of relief when I got my copy, too.

The photographs really are splendid, I love the one of Dempsey and Greb sans hats.

Differences aside, I hope this book is an unqualifed success and I will be buying it myself.

Thank you. I really appreciate that.

The photos were a source of pride for me. Many of them were old newspaper photos that I digitally restored myself to the highest quality I could. I wanted them to come out as good as possible but unfortunately some them just didnt come out right in the final printing. The close up of O'Dowd which shows how much damage he suffered in the ring is a beautiful photo originally but for some reason the contrast is too high in the book. The square off of Greb and Joe Borrell was another that came out too dark and of a lesser quality than my copy along with the photo of Greb in an exhibition with Joe Bonds. There were a couple more but those were the ones that really stuck in my craw. In the end I had to resign myself to the notion that they were passable and that half a dozen out of 500+ isnt so bad.
