    Alvarez-Lopez gate totals more than $1.6 million

    Junior middleweight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's fifth-round knockout of Josesito Lopez on Saturday drew a live gate of $1,618,150, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director, Keith Kizer.

    Martinez-Chavez Jr. gate totals more than $3 million

    Sergio Martinez's unanimous decision over Julio Cesar Chavez on Saturday drew a live gate of $3,052,475, according to Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director, Keith Kizer.

    didn't Arum say this was the biggest gate at the Thomas and Mack in history? Did he mean people wise or money wise?

    So Canelo did over half of what Jr. did, with Chavez having a big time opponent, while Alvarez was fighting a underdog from the Junior Welterweight division. By comparison those numbers seem to reflect Canelo draws as well. Meaning if he can draw 1.6 Mil fighting a huge underdog, he should easily attract 3 Million + fighting Cotto (or a dangerous opponent like Chavez Jr. did.)

    does that affect the 1.6 number though? I know it'd affect the number of people attended

    What's the size of each venue?

    - And do we know that the reported figures are, you know, accurate?

    In boxing I believe absolutely nothing unless I actually see it with my eyes.
