In their last fight, I think in the 7th or 8th round I began counting Pascal's punch output. On my fingers. It took minutes before I needed to switch hands.
Bute finished the fight on his feet. The decision to let him continue can't have been that bad, if he didn't get stopped afterward. The reason why refs stop fights is to protect the fighter. In retrospect, since Bute finished the fight, you can't say it was a bad decision, since Bute didn't get hurt afterward. And BTW, the fight was finished before the end of the count (even a standard count). In that situation, a fighter only has to get up, he doesn't even have to be fit to continue.
Canadian corruption? I say it's unfounded allegations. You blame Pascal for implying Hopkins is on juice without proof, and the next minute, you say that the Canadian promoter is corrupted, without proof.
Some of you guys really jump the gun here...4 ounces isnt **** to shed! Thanks for posting Antwun!!:good
I expect Hopkins to continue his schooling this time...He will be more aware of Pascal's power and will jab to Pascal's body earlier on in this fight...I fully expect Hopkins to school Pascal!
Team Pascal have acted very shamefully during this promotion, and this is a fact. If they really wanted the tests, they would have made BHOP sign for it (which, in and of itself, is not a bad thing). But instead they say that since Hopkins beat up the invincible Pascal, he must be juicing. Hopefully Pascal gets a lesson taught to him he won't soon forget. Perhaps he will become a better fighter, and stop with the desperate BS. :deal
He should have been stopped previous to that, as he had not thrown a punch for over a minute and was literally running around the ring, unable to even defend himself. He should have been stopped prior to the KD, but the ref was just hoping that Bute didnt fall over by the time the bell rung. Luckily Bute escaped unharmed, but it's that type of hometown officiating that puts lives in danger. If that fight took place anywhere else, he would have been stopped.:deal
A Canadian referee gave Bute an extremely long count a few years back and handed him the fight. Probably the worst behavior I've ever seen by a ref. It turns out, the guy had reffed several of Bute's fights in the past. Obviously, he was not nuetral.
