Up first will be Jinki Maeda (4-0, 2) vs Arashi Iimi (7-2, 7)
Maeda won the All Japan Rookie of the Year in 2019, beating Kyonosuke Kameda in the final, Iimi lost in the 2017 All Japan final (to Toshiki Shimomachi who's in the co-feature!)

Hirakata, where this show is taking place, is where Ryota Yada was born, and has a population of around 400,000 (as per 2016)

1-Good start by Maeda who is boxing on the outside and has dropped Iimi in the first minute or so. Iimi not hurt but that was a legit KD. Maeda showing respect when Maeda gets up, nice patience by Maeda - a by product of his Nippon Kempo experience I suspect.

    10-8 Maeda

Iimi, whilst heavy handed, has been stopped in both of his losses

KD came from a perfect short counter straight from Maeda. Lovely little shot.

2-Iima down again early in round 2, he looks pissed with himself, back up quickly though, Maeda's speed is really impressive, kid is sharp with hands and feet.

Iimi tagged, and he's hurt, Maeda rushing in and down goes Maeda again. Ref waves this off.

TKO2 Maeda. I know Asian boxing did a piece on him last week, and he really looked great here. Certainly one to watch going forward.

1-Hanabusa on the front foot, Shimomachi backing well off his southpaw jab and back foot work, Hanabusa rushing in, nice right from Hanabusa, lovely head movement from Hanabusa as he comes forward, nice Shimomachi jab and a good left, this has "high speed chess" written all over it, very skillful kids, body shots from Shimomachi, a good straight from the champion, Hanabusa with a right as he applied more pressure

Nothing too dramatic, Shimomachui landed the better shots for me, very close round though.

    10-9 Shimomachi

2-Pace picking up, same dynamic as round 1 with Hanabusa pressing and Shimomachi hanging back but it's moved up a gear, think the pressure of the challenger has worked better this round than in the first, big left later on by Shimomachi, who slippery as a greased eel. Another super close round that Shimomachi takes...just...

3-More pressure from Hanabusa, do wonder if he can keep this up for 8 rounds given his lack of success, lovely straight-uppercut combo from Shimomachi, Hanabusa starting to back off just a touch, another stiff Shimomachi jab, and another clean jab.

    3-0

Shimomachi is a slick Japanese fighter...for those wondering if they exist

4-More of the same, Hanabusa coming forward, missing, being picked off, he is risking a bit more this round than he did in the last round, and eats a nasty counter as a result, nice body shot from Shimomachi, stiff jab from Hanabusa lands.

Marevelling at Shimoachi's movement and defense. Would like to see him turn on the offense a bit more now though

5-Hanabusa again coming forward, some very cute counter work form Shimomachi, the two go down as they slip into each other. Shimomachi on the front foot a bit mid-way into the round, and Hanabusa is being backed up, and down goes Hanabusa, body shot! He's up but I don't think he'll be there for long, he's rocked, Shimomachi unloads and the referee steps in

    TKO5

That was brilliant! Very, very impressive!

    Main event
    Ryota Yada (19-6, 16) v Takuya Fujii (7-5, 3)

This probably won't last long. Yada has stated he wants to win quickly, and is looking to impressive his family and friends from where he was born.

Fujii doesn't really belong in there with him
