There's so much I don't know about them

1.Is it possible to throw them with perfect accuracy?
2.Will it always cause the person to collapse if enough power is applied?
3.Is receiving several ones during a boxer's career (permanently) damaging?
4.If 1 and 2 are true, wouldn't it make the best punch for self defense?

liver shot is my favorite shot.. i dont know about accuracy, i think that every opponent is different, its hard to train your shot and apply it on every opponent like you trained. its more to make his right side open and boom, left hook. i think that it would be very nice punch for self defense, not damaging his face (police..), and maybe less chance to damage your hand. same as plexus.

for 3rd i dont know, i received a lot and gave a lot in 2 years, i have no problems and never heard for them, but i dont know, after 10-20 years maybe there could be a problem.

1: No. Like any other punch there's too many variables involved to throw with 100% accuracy all the time. BUT, if you catch a clean opening and get the right angle on it, they are definitely a consistently devastating punch.

2: No. It's not so much the power, but finding the right angle, opening and timing. Power obviously doesn't hinder your chances of having someone fall in a heap and **** themselves, but much like any other punch, it's a mix of a bunch of other stuff.

3: Most likely not. I actually had a paramedic tell me how to cleave a liver in half (apparently it's very common in car accidents), you just need an edge slightly sharper than that of a fist (I believe they call it a leopard fist in kung fu), and drive it in just like a regular liver shot and you'll more or less tear the liver in half. However, livers are incredibly good at healing and repairing themselves, so even that doesn't do any real permanent damage.

4: No. It's a good tool to use in a self defence situation, but there would be far too many variables to pick a single best punch.

    Everything Primate says.

I rarely get in fights so I can't comment but I've heard from people I know who box and have used them in street fights and made guys buckle and throw up from body shots.

I think it would be a great self defence punch as I've never seen someone throw a body shot in a brawl before and if you wind someone you can just run/walk away after. If its a group its more likely to hurt someone with a body shot than knocking them clean out, plus less issue with police.

commonly known as ,,the floating rib,,,
ive been hit with this shot & there nothing you can do about it only go down on one knee & last anywhere from 7/12 seconds
the target area ,if you put you harms by your sides its about there at the back of the elbows ,,its more of a hook, uppercut sort of punch to reach that area ,so yes accuracy is needed ,,,you will not get hit there that often to worry about it ,,there is no defense without leaving yourself wide open,,
