Liverpool boxing

what are the top amateur clubs in liverpool now.there was some good uns when i was boxing back in the 70's

 

The Solly, Rotunda and Kirkby probably have the best reputations.

 

i've boxed on a rotunda show,did joey frost box for them.
maple leaf still going and holy name ??

 

Joey Frost is before my time mate, dont know where he boxed.

I havent heard of Maple Leaf so I presume not, but others may know more.

I dont think Holy Name is going anymore, Long Lane is the only gym I know around them ways.

 

I remember all those clubs and pretty sure Joey Frost boxed for the Rotunda. Black vests, gold hoop.

I boxed in the Army pal. My very good friend used to box for Kirkby ABC just wondered if anyone here did incase they knew him ??

great fight, I have a few pints with your old man in ye craic. Great company he is! Although i think I am starting to annoy him I am such a big fan! hows his hip? Werent you all going to do some kind of a benefit night showing all his best fights?

 

i remember seeing him at the stadium in the ABA's.he landed a head butt left hook combo on this lad and won by KO.everybody saw it bar the ref

 

Great puncher. He won his ABA title for Rotunda, as you say, but must have left them prior to going pro. I once saw Joey, Ray and George Gilbody on a Liverpool to London train, suited up, making the long journey to Moscow for the 1980 Olympics.
Joey was a bit unlucky not to win a medal.
