I remember Terry Marsh beating Joey in the 1980 ABAs but the Olympic selectors wanted a box-off between the two for the welterweight spot in Moscow. Marsh refused and Joey got the trip. Joey claimed he had had bad hands when losing to Marsh.

The Liverpool Echo done a great book last year. It was on the Boxing Venues of Liverpool. Got a copy of it for Christmas - love it.
Two of the best lads I ever boxed were from scouseland. Steven Mathews and Seve Harkin who turned pro recently. Both good lads. Mathews was/is a class boxer I mentioned him to Steve Wood a while back but not heard anything from him for a while. Someone needs to get him in a gym and fighting he was a frightening talent and could have gone all the way. I'd be interested in seeing what he's doing now.
