Which fights for you personally lived up to the hype surrounding them? This can be contemporary fights that you were highly anticipating and then watched live or older fights that you'd heard were great and then watched much later after you'd heard they were great.

I'll give one example of each:
-contemporary: Morales-Barrera 1. It had "can't miss classic" written all over it and then somehow exceeded that hype.
-old fight: Moore-Durelle 1. I didn't think it could match my imagination of it and then I finally saw it and it did completely.

EDIT: Have edited original post as I should have been clearer - I’m asking about your own personal experience of fights that lived up to the hype for you. Not thinking here about received wisdom. So unless you were at Gans-Nelson or have access to all 42 rounds, please only include choices personal to you.

Ali vs Frazier 1 very clearly did, and as I've heard from write ups so did Gans vs Nelson 1

Wilder vs Fury was pretty well received except for the decision

    Hagler vs Hearns

"They said this fight would be won on heart, and the good chin"

    It sure was.

Probably the best first round in title fight history. Unbelievable intensity and action. They really didn't like each other and Hearns was expecting to take Hagler out and Hagler sensed that and was absolutely not having any of that noise. The look Hearns gave to Hagler just prior to the start of the first round was all about intimidation, but Hagler jumped out of the blocks early and a war was on! Hagler was stunned early on by a Hearns' right hand (Hearns said he broke it on Hagler's skull), and then Hagler shook it off and worked over Hearns for the remainder of the round with some great back and forth moments. I know Hagler was on fire for this fight because he was usually a slow starter but he threw all that out the window and attacked Hearns right away to let him know he wouldn't be intimidated by him. Commentators could not believe the incredible pace of the first round and everyone knew that this fight wouldn't go long with the the way that they were savagely attacking each other. This fight lived up to the hype and then some!

There wasn't that much hype but two good Welterweight Champions slugged it out Porter and Spence. That was good stuff. Shawn Porter brought it like an old school warrior. I appreciate and respect his heart. He made Spence earn that win. They fought.
My Buddy came over to watch the fight and he's a UFC guy. He even enjoyed it. He was thinking it was gonna be boring and he was gonna talk crap about boxing.

It's up there, and might be, but Floyd-Ingo III jumps to mind as well.

You provided two outstanding examples, and those might well have been my choices, too.

Tony Canzoneri vs Kid Chocolate lived up to the 'legendary' amounts of skill it was supposed to show.

Hatakeyama vs Sakamoto surpassed the hype for a national war. Tatsuyoshi vs Singwacha also surpassed its own hype for war.

I don't think any Britons were disappointed with Hatton vs Tszyu either!
Ritson vs Davies also exceeded any expectations of it. Great fight.

I'd also say the third Chang vs Torres fight exceeded anything that people expected, after that terrible second showing from Chang. Great fight.

Carbajal-Gonzalez 1 was that division's closest thing to its own superfight and it exceeded all expectation.

while I agree Chang didn’t look focused on the 2nd fight I still felt he won. Do you have a card?

Yeah he did win the second. That's not what I was getting at. And I don't have a card, and I can't rewatch as it has been removed.
