What happened to Bramble? After twice beating up Ray Mancini, it looked like he was a solid champion who might be around for awhile. But then Edwin Rosario knocks him out early, and everything went downhill from there. He retired with 26 losses on his record. What happened? Was Mancini just overrated? Or, did Bramble's somewhat villainous persona work against him with judges? Or something else? What do you guys think?
From what I can recall, mancini was overrated but good brawler with a beard. Bramble had skills but was heavy into weed and after losing to Rosario, changed his name smoked more and didn't take the sport seriously. Sent from my SM-G360T using Tapatalk
Pretty accurate .. Rosario destroyed Brabble, actually a serious upset as Bramble was hyped after beating Ray twice and then Crawley and was never close to the same after Rosario crushed him ..
Yes, Mancini was overrated, but it was more than that. Bramble never rally recovered from the Rosario beatdown That was the end of his prime From that point onward it was a slow decline. In summer '88 he was stopped by Freddie Pendleton. It was seen as an upset, but really wasn't. Bramble hadn't looked very good since the Rosario fight and Freddie was much better than his record and had drawn with Randall and kod Roger Mayweather.. Still, Bramble remained a very tough journeyman/steppingstone. He almost beat rising Oba Carr in '91 and did surprise Harold Brazier with a 2nd round ko in '89.
Agree with what's been said already. Edwin Rosario rocked his world. A classic 2 round destruction. Then he became world champion ganja smoker, changed his name to Ras-I Aluja. I guess he carried on fighting to buy more weed.
