I know he got massacered by El Chapo but was that a fluke or did the Pit Bull peak to early with his win over Mancini ?
You know something Ragg, I haven't seen Bramble fight in ages. Most of the fights that I actually did see of him were later in his career, right around the early 90's when he was rated on the fringes of the top 10 jr. welterweight picture. For a while, he was a regular on ESPN top rank boxing. Taylor, Chavez, Camacho, and Gimenez, were the champions at the time, and Bramble I believe was holding one of the regional belts, like the USBA or NABF, or whatever. I saw him beat fighters like Kenny Vice and Harold Brazier, but lose to guys like Martin and Cordona. Granted this was not a prime Bramble, but at times he still looked pretty tuff. He could definately punch and take a punch, along with confusing guys with his awkword style. He hung around the game way too long though.
I know he hung around way too long. I always considered him a solid fighter with above par skills, a good chin(the Rasario KO not withstanding) and a solid punch I hadn't thought about him in a million years untill he popped in my mind
Rosario ices him every time. Not because Bramble sucked or anything, he was pretty good, but styles....... He impressed me because instead of boxing and dancing against Mancini he stood rght in there and took it away from him on his own turf. Inside fighting, I mean. Then he follows that up with a dominating stoppage win over maybe the best pure boxer in the division when he fought Crawley. Completely different styles of opponent, same result.
The Mancini fights are well worth checking out. I was very impressed with Bramble, unique guy outside the ring as well.
