Just missed each other. Opposites in many ways. Thoughts?

I would have to pick Honeyghan. I think he was the stronger guy, and could weather the meaty whacks he took back from Jones. It'd be a war from the get go, though. Fun, fun fight, because they'd find eachother pretty easily. In that case, you got to take the bulldozer in Lloyd.

It would not be as onesided as Jones run in with Curry.

Yeh if Lloyd went into scrapper/turf war/who's the king of the castle mode he could well find himself getting dinged but i'd have to go with Lloyd all day long too breeze too a UD by sticking too box & move.To busy for Colin IMO.

Honeyghan at his peak was a monster, though maybe not as refined as he'd need to be to avoid Jones' left hook. Still, he was durable enough to see it through IMO. Honeyghan wide points win.

The early rounds would be competitive. Lloyd's cleaner punches would bust Colin's face up before the tenth though.

very interesting match-up and not one ive ever thought about funnily enough. Its been a while from ive watched either but from what i do remember Lloyd fancied himself more of a slugger post Curry, when, in fact, he was a pretty good boxer pre-Curry. Jones was always Jones and if Lloyd tries to rush him a-la Bumphus and Hatcher, i think Jones will think his prayers have been answered and it suits him a helluva lot more than it does the Raggamuffin. Gotta go with Jones, and pretty strongly too although certainly not easy,if Lloyd wants to mix it and stand his ground. On the other hand, if Lloyd chooses to box the way he was certainly capable off, then he wins by a comfortable enough margin. It would be a good test of Jones for us to see just how good that left hook really was.

yeah if lloyd went at jones as he did at bumphus he may well taste the canvas but the curry and pre-curry version of honeyghan should win . but you can never count out jones he may find that one big shot. was'nt there talk of a honeyghan/jones fight, but jones could never shake his back injury enough to get into proper shape . and jones fancied himself to beat honeyghan and i dont think jones really ever rated honeyghan

For me Colin Jones Vs John H Stracey is more of a head scratcher, both being upright, a bit rigid, and advancing and fighting off the JAb, and that is the crux for me, Lloyds mobility, versatility, and defensive prowess, will cause the easily findable Colin all sorts of Trouble, and thats before Lloyds classy offensive capabilities are brought into the equasion, Kirkland Laing twice gave Colin the run around before twice getting caught by the Jones-bomb in the 9th,

Lloyd also was a very slippery customer to pin down, even at close range, i remember on the way up Slylester Mittee went hunting for him, and Lloyd remained relaxed under fire, before putting his classy combinations together to dismiss mittee, if he is not too complacent against Colin i would expect Similar, but at a higher level, Colin did not look too happy when Laing swithced to his body, if Colin is a bit susceptable to the Body, well the way Lloyd laid into Curry's midsection at close range, wouldnt bode well for Colin, Colin would always be dangerous, but lloyd at his best would always know where to find Colin, but Colin i feel would be very frustrated by Lloyds defensive prowess, at close and long range,

Ultimately, Lloyd would Map Colin's Approach path and work in and around it, And if Lloyd lands his own big shot Ala Rossi, and tought Jones weathers it... well theres plenty of Honeygan Classy follow-ups Lock and loaded. Lloyd a little to versatile for the Tough but predictable Welsh Dragon for me. Lloyd on points with perhap[s a little scare or two along the way.

Jones would knock out Honey-Laing was faster then Lloyd and Jones tracked him down twice.

And Laing was famously inconsistent, had a different style and lesser chin, was a top-notch Euro level rather thanWorld class operator like Honey. Terrible comparison.

Cobra 33 - Just bare in mind - Tracking Down Kirk Laing and Tracking Down Lloyd Honeygan would be two differant tasks, Kirk concentrating on movement gave little in way of discouragement, apart from the frustratioin of missing of course, on the other hand trying to Track and whack Lloyd would be much more onerous, having to come through Lloyds classy offensive arsenal is an entirely different matter. Kirk could stand you on your head with movement....Lloyd could put you on your arse !

Laing was faster and hit pretty hard.He was also much mobile then Llyodd.
Also MCcroy was a pretty good boxer and Jones reached him. What everyone forgets is Honeyghan would get drawn into brawling with Jones then Jones would get him.Name 1 bout in which Honeyghan boxed the ENTIRE bout?

Cob, Lloyd didnt have to box a whole fight - he had other options, where Kirk Skittered around the ring, Lloyd could be evasive from the waist up, - and up close, - and be in a much better position to fire back, I like Colin against many, a Colin - Pistol Pete Ranzany fight would probably of been a trhriller...until Colin finds him...I just dont think he finds Lloyd, but takes some nasty taste of Honey in looking for him.
