Prime for prime,Honeyghan would be too strong for Laing. 'The Gifted One' would have his moments in the early sessions, but 'The Raggamuffin Man' would chase him down eventually.
I think I posted this thread not long ago I voted honeyghan then and I have now but I can tell you Laing really fancied his chances against honeyghan
Honeyghan was a lot more consistent, and I take him to grind Laing down, and stop him in the middle/late rounds.
Lloyd could be good defensively albeit in a different manner to Kirkland, with his rolling from the waist, as we saw against Curry, and indeed earlier against Sylvester Mittee, so if Kirk thinks he is the Defensive master going in...he might get a surprise, even when losing, Kirk often had control of the early going until he got caught, Ala Jones or Buck Smith, he may find himself barred from the drivers seat, even early in this one, also Lloyd had some good combinations when he cut loose as he showed against Horace Shufford , of course with Mr Rossi, one big well timed thunderbolt right hand in the 3rd was all it took... I cant help thinking that Laid Back Kirk's natural Ace's will eventually get Trumped by the Versatile Lloyd, if there is pre-fight animosity perhaps Lloyd would go for him from the off Like he did Vaca in the second bout, or perhaps a quick start of round Ambush like Bumphus, but sooner or later the Ragamuffin man would get down to business, then i think the "gifted" one starts to look a bit Bargain Basement.
Fan of both fighters Laing with his elusive style, Honeyghan with his aggression. May of taken a few rounds for Honeyghan to start finding his target and even be behind on points but I see a similar finish to when Jones x2 caught Laing. Honeyghan at his peak a good, spiteful finisher and for me wins just after halfway by TKO/KO, Laing would have a habit of switching off in fights and more often than not it cost him.
