One of the greatest boxers Britain's produced. I was googling him earlier and read that he was in a pretty bad way, healthwise. He's suffered from a heart attack in 2017 and the latest report from 2020 stated that he'd suffered pulmonary proiblems. Has anyone heard anything more recent?
On a fistic note,it's a shame that Lloyd could n't maintain the form he displayed in the Donald Curry fight.
I know he has got hugely overweight since retiring so it doesn't come as a surprise. Good fighter, albeit briefly. Reminded me of a mini Holyfield with his perpetual motion.
Him and Douglas had the biggest upsets of the 80,s ! In his prime one of the very best of all time i believe !
I had seen about his health issues, Stevie. He's going through a rough time at sounds of it. Like you, I loved Honeyghan from his top of the welter s days. Those first couple of years after beating Curry, he was an absolute beast. His first fight with Vaca, could tell something was off. But the rematch he blitzed him. I think that was his last really good performance. It's a shame he couldn't have given us a few more years of wins.
Yeah,it's almost like he forgot his not inconsiderable skills post Curry. He tended to rely soley on his power and aggression after that fight. Naseem Hamed went a similar way.
I read that unfortunately he had been in a car accident and was being cared for. Is posting links to other sites ok?
Sad to hear Lloyd is not very well, would appreciate it if anyone could keep me up to date with his progress. One of my favourite fighters keep strong champ
Shame really, cos he showed so much beating Curry. He liked the party life so I suppose the old training wasn't as vigorous at times.
