It's in better shape now than it was 10 years ago, when Tyson and ODLH were still the only things that could get anyone's interest.

He's talking about HW boxing. I wouldn't argue that HW boxing in America is at an all time low.

That said boxing is still doing very well in the states specifically in California, Houston, New York, Chicago and I'd argue Florida is booming as well.

I'd certainly watch the fight if it were on and would want to see it live. But I don't blame HBO. It is what it is.

Ah. Well, it still isn't dead, just dormant. We need a big, athletic kid who hates football. ;)

I just wish we could get a decent contender in the ring with Wlad. I saw the stare down pics of Wlad and Chambers today and was thinking - can we just fast forward to the fifth round KO? Chambers has no chance against the Klitschko's.

HBO's monopoly is falling apart, it's about time we see more boxing matches on Showtime and regular cable.

Too many boxers HBO has to juggle with.

The fact is that Wlad is painfully boring. He has a size advantage over everyone he fights, he has power, but then he goes out and fights like a cross between Virgil Hill and John Ruiz. Fight fans in the US has no desire to watch a fighter fight a guy that they know can be ko'd spectacularly in 2 rounds carried until the 8th being jabbed and held to death.

Not that I disagree with the strategy. Wlad has a very shaky chin, he knows it, his people know it, and his opponents know it. So how he fights makes perfect sense. However it doesn't garner popularity outside he regional support area. (Continental Europe) He's a flop in Asia, North America, South America, and Africa.

The preponderance of fans prefer a guy like Tyson. A guy who never had the size advantage, but came out like a demon and made every fight exciting.

Yes, Wlad can remain a big draw in his backyard, fighting decent fighters and playing safety first boxing and making his 7-10 million a fight. But if he wants to be the 30 million a fight fighter, getting on pay per view, or hell, even getting back on HBO, he is either going to have to improve his fighting style, or find better fighters to fight.

I definitely dont agree with the poster.
Specially since Chambers is the best American HW at the moment.

Chambers is the No. 1 contender and deserves the shot by beating Dimirenko.

HBO should show his fight. Very disrespectful against Chambers.

Stupid move on HBO's part. One of the reasons I subscribed to HBO was for their boxing coverage, and their series like the Wire and the Sopranos. Now that those series are over , and if they start refusing toi show Wlad, well I will be calling to cancel soon.

I agree with you. I don't have HBO (i have showtime and one of my friend have HBO so we switch places depending on the fight) but boxing is the only reason i would take HBO. If they can't even show me the world best HW against the recognized best american HW then wtf...

pfffftt.... HBO can easily spend money geared towards wlad to show better fights.

would you rather watch wlad jab and clinch his way to a boring win or would you rather watch something like:

    timothy bradley vs. marcos maidana???

    easy decision for me.
