Byrds promoter [Don King] didnt want Lewis to fight Byrd. He paid Lewis to give up his belt so he could set up the hard road to glory series, which was a tournament pitting Byrd vs Holyfield for the IBF and Ruiz vs Jones for the WBA, the winners would fight each other for the 2 belts hereby creating a universally recognised challenger to Lewis with a lot of hype and then a big Undisputed championship fight against Lewis. Heres Byrd standing next to Lewis at the press conference,

It was Don King who didnt see this tournament through after Jones didnt defend his belt after beating Ruiz.

Thanks, but then why did Tyson fight Lennox at all then? If he was avoiding him earlier, why fight him after Tyson declined even more?

And why didn't Holyfield fight Lennox earlier?

FightingWeight said that Bowe, Holyfield and Tyson avoided fighting Lewis but then Tyson and Holyfield were forced to?

If they had to fight Lewis to try to complete their legacy why not try it earlier when they were better and more likely to beat him?

Indeed!! The facts are the facts. Lewis is the guy who waited to fight these guys when they were sliding down that slope to palookaville, or, as in the case of Bowe, not at all.

These Lewis nuthuggers LOVE to say that everybody DUCKED Lewis, but it wasn't their fault he couldn't draw flies to a funeral in the U.S. and that he got taken out right before he was gonna fight Bowe in '95 (they'll never tell you about that one either). These fights didn't happen earlier primarily because of MONEY, which is what delays or prevents most fights in boxing from happening. And that worked to Lewis's advantage, clearly.

Vitali was winning on points, then Lewis' promoter, doctor, etc., had the fight stopped because of a cut to save Lewis from being knocked out. Dream on haters.

Hide was beating Vitali until he was stopped. Hide won the event.

Vitali easily knocked Hide out cold and I mean cold. Vitali staggered Lewis more than once, Lewis was ready to drop. Max was sitting right behind Lewis' corner. Vitali Vs. Hide was a total mismatch. Lewis could not hurt Vitali, not ever one time, with his best shot.

It doesn't matter. If I'm using your idiotic rationale then Hide should feel hard done by as he was up on the cards at the time of the stoppage.

Couldn't finish a fat, old unmotivated Lewis though could he. :think

That's a mark against Vitali - Lewis has a shaky jaw and Vitali has this impressive KO ratio - something is not quite adding up there.

Yes, as Hide was ahead at the time of the stoppage. :good

A technical cut...as opposed to what? an untechnical one? Get real, Vitali looked like the phantom of the opera when Lewis had finished with him

Max, a well known Klitscko hater, said that Lewis was ready to go, he had never seen Lewis flop down on his stool so hard. He was finished.

Well then it must be ****ing true then. :rofl

That must be the same round where Vitali was swaying going back to his corner and a round after he was taking in huge gulps of air. :deal
