There was an article explaining about how Pac's money was distributed.

His business dealing is not straight forward "pay only one person" like Floyd's.

Apparently, it is on a 40/60 basis where the purse is paid an equivalentof 40 percent and the rest is channeled through his promotional company.

If you understand how corporate taxation works, it really makes sense.

A corporate revenue gets taxed way less than personal income.

What you submit to NSAC or whatever is just the minimum amount. Infact, if you put 1 dollar in it, the fight will still push through.

Pac actuallymade more than 50+ million dollars last year from 2 fights based on the reputable business magazine FORBES.So if you basethat on his written purses, he would not make that amount.

The reason why this is a big deal is because a 50/50 split makes Pacquiao a rich man while it essentially pays Mayweather the same as he would get anyway. That's not fair any way you slice it.

Mayweather makes ~40 million per fight
I'll be generous and say Manny makes 25 million per fight

If the even is as big as a success as most expect, there would be around 100 million in the pot for May-Pac to split. Mayweather would be unable to use the same model since he would have to concede that to Top Rank so he would lose a revenue stream there in order to make the fight.

50/50 split is 50 million for each fighter. That is 100% more than Pacquiao makes per fight and only 25% more than Mayweather makes per fight.

The real way to make the fight is to hire an independent firm like Price Waterhouse as Schaefer suggested to review all of the information and determine a fair split with both fighters agreeing to accept their decision beforehand. I doubt Arum would allow this though.

A 60/40 split for Mayweather would be generous to Pac as he would still make 60% more than he normally would while Mayweather would make 50% more than his usual purse.

The people calling for 50/50 and saying Mayweather is ducking are essentially saying that Mayweather should bend over backwards to make the fight instead of both fighters working together on a fair split based on the facts available.

So the tax theory for Manny's pay doesn't make sense to me, especially if he limited his time in the US to under 90 days, then he wouldn't owe the US ****.

So it is clear Manny is getting some bad advice and getting played by Arum.

Some of you people are so dopey it's beyond belief! I think Floyd whoops Manny unless manny comes fully charged like against cotto or diaz, even then I favour Floyd 65/35. Now as far as this "Manny makes 6 or 7 million, how can he ask for x amount" argument - its like this, TR only declare 6 or 7 million to the commission for tax purposes, Manny gets most of his money through other clever accounting mechanisms (I work for E & Y in London by the way - look it up if you don't know what that is, apologies to those who do, don't mean to be condescending) - big business does this all the time to avoid paying tax, its all legal and above board - but is it ethical, meh? Floyd seems to straight up declare his cut to the commission each time, he must have some different accounting system for tax in place relative to manny and top rank (I don't know the US tax system very well, the UK system, I could school you on, its what I do). As far as the split between Manny and Floyd, like Schaffaer said, let the numbers decide (in terms of ppv's sold) - even then I don't think they would agree upon a starting point - Floyd would say lets start from the Oscar fight, TR woud say lets start from when Manny starting going on PPV (the numbers are out there).
