It's about tax. Roach helped clear some of it in an interview once. If most of Pac's earning is declared in the US he gets tax twice. the US takes their share and the Philippians will definitely take theirs. He doesn't gain a damn thing by declaring 20 or 30 million payment in Vegas cause that just mean a ton of tax he has to pay. So the smaller the purse with a huge % base of PPV that is paid to him via the Philippians is how he gets his pay for his fight. If you think he is only making 6 millions :patsch:rofl:rofl:rofl

yep, because he has no backbone and they essentially said in their court disposition over trying to get the money manny owed them that he was getting taken to the cleaners, and didn't even have a bookkeeper in his camp to maintain records.

yet this is the next president of the Philippines and a congressman? His heart might be in the right place but he isn't helping anyone in either role.

Pacquiao will get some kind of guarantee, like he always does. Add up the PPV revenue and he'll make minimum 20 mill in the fight.

With the fact that Manny has no fight contracts on record. The fact that Manny lives off advances from Top Rank, which Arum is giving with interest most likely. The fact that on paper the man is getting around 6 million guaranteed per fight. The fact that VisionQuest noted that Top Rank would not work with them in their external audit of Manny's finances, I think there is something wrong here.

No, they don't have to release jack **** to Joe public.
But those figures will be on the table come negotiation time, that's all that matters because let's face it GBPs will hit the media with the fact Arums figures don't warrant 50%.

couldn't find the Roach one but here is a great article about it.

In a nut shell Pac has to report some earning due to the fight purse. How he gets the rest of the money is the tricky part. The IRS will get their share of the PPV, the question is how is the moneymaking it to PAC in the Philippians. That is where the he got into trouble. The account book cooking. But that's another topic. Back on this topic, Pac makes well in the 20 million range for each fight. The reported earning to Vegas doesn't mean anything to what he earns in a fight.

    http://globalbalita.com/2012/03/18/pacquiao-watch-double-taxation-no-way/

"Remember, Pacquiao’s fight contracts are only known to him, his promoters and the IRS and, far from what is reported in the press, purses stipulated in the fight contracts are significantly less than any announced guaranteed pay. Somewhere, it was reported that the purse when Pacquiao fought Juan Manuel Marquez was only US$6 million.

It is when the proceeds of the pay per view (PPV) sales are counted that Pacquiao’s income shoots up, which is only known several months later after subsequent accounting. But there is no escaping the IRS whose agents are always on the lookout in cases like Pacquiao’s. No wonder many former world boxing champions ended up being chased by the IRS because they failed to pay the appropriate taxes of their subsequent incomes other than what is stipulated in the fight contract."

Who cares how much Pacquaio makes. Pacquaio wins a lot more money than that, but doesn't take as much as common perception would have you think he should.

Maybe it's his choice. We don't know who all is getting paid. So why are people speculating on this?

Maybe he pays his team members a lot more than other fighters in his position.
